About Me

Name: Corey Sharpe
E-mail: (personal) coreman2@comcast.net; (school) coreysharpe@bloomfield.edu

Major: Video Game Development: Design

Artist Statement: I wanted to be a CAT Video Game Development Design major because quite frankly, ever since I was child, I had a game controller in my hands. There has not been a day that goes by that I do not play video games. As I grew up so did my passion for the art. I want to learn the trade and take my passion to the next level. The industry is going through an interesting phase right now. Thanks to Nintendo and their motion controls, and Microsoft and Sony making it easier for indie developers to get their names out there, they have opened up the portal for new and creative ideas to spring forth. I need to be apart of that and I need to be part of the team that makes the next big thing happen. That is my dream, my desire and the only way for me to accomplish my goal is through this school.

My educational and career goals have been the same throughout my scholastic career, graduate with honors and a Bachelor's degree in my field of study. During my tenure here at Bloomfield I will gain an internship so I may have some experience working in my field before I graduate. With luck, determination, and lots of help, in no more than two years, I see myself starting my career of game designing with one of the big players in the industry. In five years, I see myself working with my own team on creating the next revolution in gaming. In ten years, I want to be known in the industry as a well-sought out asset. If my name is on the product, it will be successful.

I will start my own company, before I turn thirty, and we will be known for making great triple A titles. With a dream like this one, I will need many skills to fill the many hats I must wear. I am looking forward to learning everything this school has to offer me, be it 3-D modeling in Maya, illustration in Photoshop, or sound design in Pro Tools, I need them all.

At the moment the project I am looking forward to the most is working with my small team to create game design documents for my Creating a Game Design Document class. I love being able to work in small groups and brainstorm what could very well be the next product that changes people's view on video games. Another project I will be looking forward to is my Capstone. I already have my group picked out and we have been discussing a little bit about our idea, and I think it's shaping up quite nicely.

Finally, the job that I want to do the most is everything. I honestly cannot decide what job I want to focus on the most. I want to be able to do everything equally well, so I can become irreplaceable on the team. If someone is out sick for the day, as the team lead I can take over his or her role and not miss a beat on production.
